Offshore Florida Keys Fishing Report! 4-22-11

We left Bud N Mary's Marina early this morning for a full day Florida Keys Fishing Charter. I asked the guys what they wanted to catch, and it was the usual answer. Lots of fish, especially big ones. I explained we could go for quality or quantity, possibly a little of both. We decided to head offshore and on the way out to the grounds our high speed lure started screaming. After a 10 minute fight, we had a nice wahoo close to 30 lbs in the boat. Great way to start the day. Once we got to our spot, we put our kite out and caught a couple of blackin tuna. They weren't huge, maybe 5 or 6 lbs, but perfect for a nice dinner. After that everybody wanted to do a bottom drop. Each person caught and released an amberjack, the biggest around 40 lbs! Since we had caught some sizeable fish, we decided to do some trolling in search of Mahi. We caught a couple of fish over the next two hours and finally hit a decent school putting around 10 in the box. All in the 3 to 6 lb range. We fished a little longer and started running home. We could see land but in our way, was a big piece of floating bamboo. We stopped and fished the debris, and within a few minutes we had another 10 dolphin in the box for dinner. All schoolie size fish, 3 to 7 lbs. It was a great ending to an Islamorada Fishing Trip.

That's the three of us in the photo above........What more could any fisherman ask for than a boat full of fish? Thanks to Skipper Nick and Mate Matt for a fantastic day's fishing on the B 'n M on 22/4/11: Tuna, Amberjacks, Wahoo and Dolphin galore! We were brilliantly looked after and had already had a good day when, as we headed for home, Nick came upon a floating tree and another shoal of dolphin. At one stage we had fish on every line and were up to our ankles in the fish we'd already landed. Go offshore with these boys.! Thanks Nick and Matt from Justin, Jack and Jamie. Yalding, Kent, UK.
