Islamorada Fishing Reports have been great as of late! As summer approaches, tarpon fishing in Islamorada is in full swing. Fishing has been a little off - the warm winter had many of these fish here early, so being out in the early morning or around sunset is the best time to assure bites. On some florida keys fishing trips we've been running in the backcountry, the redfish bite has been very good! Lots of fish on the flats and around the islands. Some snook have been mixed in there as well, which are still closed as of now. Some cobia and permit have been out in the gulf, along with big goliath groupers and sharks. A good mix of trout, ladyfish, pompano, jacks, and snappers can be found in many of the channels in the backcountry, as well as in muds found in the bay. On the offshore side, schoolie dolphin have been around with some slammer size fish mixed in on islamorada fishing charters. Tunas have been a good bet offshore, with some huge amberjacks being caught out there as well. Permits have been caught off some of the wrecks. Great fishing on the reef too for snappers - yellowtail and muttons, and groupers!
