SWORDFISH BY DAY – “Incredible” is the only way to describe the day-time swordfishing Poveromo experienced off Islamorada in the Florida Keys (www.fla-keys.com). Fishing aboard his Mako 284, MARC VI, with Nick Stanczyk from Bud n’ Mary’s (www.budnmarys.com), Poveromo goes on to battle four big swordfish - releasing a 175-pounder and boating a 256-pounder. And if that’s not enough, after the shoot, Poveromo takes Carl Grassi, his buddy who volunteered for camera boat duties, out for a drop; Grassi scores a 380-pound swordfish after a seven hour battle! Poveromo and Stanczyk showcase the sporting aspect of day-time swordfishing, using a “hand-crank” Penn 80-International stand-up outfit filled with 80-pound test Sufix 832 braid, and a Black Magic stand-up harness. You will also witness a swordfish attacking Poveromo’s underwater videographer, and another “incident” that could have had grave consequences. DON’T MISS THIS SHOW! The Poveromo team stayed at Pines & Palms Resort (www.pinesandpalms.com).
