"Lil' Bud" the Cat UPDATE since surgery 10-1-13

Well we couldn't be happier with all the care and love "Lil' Bud" has received the past couple of weeks since his tragic accident. There have been so many generous people helping support his surgery with donations as well as just wishing him luck. Today he was released from the vet office, Island Paws, after undergoing surgery to repair his broken hip and pelvis. He had multiple xrays taken, lots of pain medication and antibiotics, as well as TLC from a great vet office. Sara, who works in the tackle shop, and originally adopted "Lil' Bud" and his mom "Mama Mary" for the marina, has taken him home to help with the recovery. A healthy recovery is expected, but it's going to be at least 10 - 12 weeks with minimal movement for him. We expect by Christmas time "Lil' Bud" will be roaming the docks again and ready for more snuggling and picture taking. Hopefully we can sneak him a little fresh fish to snack on while he recovers, since he won't be jumping on the boats catching his own for the next couple of months. We'll keep you updated on his progress and here's a few pictures to show what's been done so far. Lil' Bud was extremely happy to get out of the vet's office and has his favorite fishing lure to play with as he recovers the next 10 - 12 weeks (although he might chew it in 1/2 and require a new one before then)

"Lil' Bud the marina Cat needs your HELP!

A few months ago we adopted a small kitten who became part of the Bud n' Mary's Family overnight. He's the most adorable and lovable cat in the world. Most people say he's good luck for fishing when you pet him, so he gets a lot of attention. Lil' Bud jumps on and off a lot of the boats looking for fish to eat, and he loves staring at the fish tank in the shop. All the fishing captains cleaning fish feed him some scraps every day as well. Anyhow, he has grown up a lot over the last few months, but unfortuanately was in a very bad accident last week. His two back legs were ran over, breaking both of them as well as crushing the hip socket on one side and tearing all the ligaments on the other. The hit and run driver left him in the parking lot. Lil' Bud crawled to the office with his two front legs and we knew he needed help. We immediately took him to the vet office. They said he had a good chance of recovering if they did reconstructive surgery since he was still young. The decision was made by all the of the friends, family, and captains of the marina to try the surgery. They did the operation yesterday and Lil' Bud seems to be doing great. It's not over yet, and he won't be walking for a while, but we are accepting donations from all the animal lovers and friends of Lil' Bud to help cover the expensive surgery.
