cold fronts and cold water

I took Jim and Ken Russell out fishing for 2 days. December 1 and 2. On both days we had leading edges of cold fronts roll through. On day one we were out near Sprigger Bank. Started out slick calm but as we watched a low-lying black cloud came through and the wind switched to the northwest at 15mph. Not too bad so we continued to fish. The Spanish mackerel bite was strong, probably catching 30 nice fish. After that we ran over to the Sandy Key area and spent the afternoon throwing jigheads tipped with a live shrimp in the drains and channels. 7 nice snook and lots of jack crevalle.
day 2 another black cloud rolled in on us and this one brought real wind and cold. One minute it was calm and the next 30 mph. We ran the edges of the flats and banks and still got some spray but ended up in the lee of the mainland near Flamingo in
Everglades National Park. We picked at fish all day using jigheads and live shrimp again. Redfish, snook, seatrout, sheephead, blackdrum and jack crevalle. On a blustery cold day we ended up with lots of fish and a good time.capt.skip nielsen can be booked through BudnMarys marina or you can email him at skipcyd@bellsouth.net
