11/25/11 Florida Keys Redfish Backcountry
Well the wind was howling today out of the east 15-20 mph! Blustery day after the holidays. Capt. Rick Stanczyk did a 3/4 day with Mike and his son AJ who have fished with him the last several years the day after thanksgiving. We did some florida keys redfish backcountry fishing. Had an extreme low tide in the everglades, flats were sticking out everywhere and very little water in the channels and cuts. We hit a spot out I had not fished much since last year. Fishing was great caught close to 20 nice reds, mostly slot size fish! Several on shrimps with jigs and a few on live baits. AJ caught his biggest ever pictured here. Also caught a handful of trout as well as ladyfish. After the tide quit we ran towards flamingo area to catch the end of the tide there. Hit a few spots in the channels there near shorelines and such, though not much going on. Caught 3 or 4 reds as we moved from runoff to runoff, and that was about it. Tried around some islands after that where tide was still flushing out even a little past noon, but not much luck there either. Decide to head in a little early and call it a day! Oh well started strong and definetely worth the trip for these guys! Stay tuned and be ready for some great december islamorada fishing report information!
