Phil's first SWORDFISH! 4-25-11
We had Phil and his wife out today aboard the BNM for some daytime swordfishing. The east wind has been blowing the past week, so the seas were a little snotty, but he insisted on trying even with the bumpy conditions. We chugged out to the "wall" and made our first drop around 9 a.m. After waiting about 20 minutes we got a bite, but it didn't stay on long. It was encouraging though, since we knew there were fish in the area. Drop number two was down about 10 minutes when we saw the rod tip bounce. After a few times whacking at the bait, we finally hooked the sword. Twenty-five minutes later Phil had his first swordfish in the boat. It was around 60 lbs, not a monster, but a good start. We made a couple more drops with one more bite that pulled off and called it a day. We got home, steaked up the swordfish for Phil and his friends, and sent them on their way with plenty of fish for dinner. CONGRATS ON YOUR FIRST SWORD PHIL! Summer's coming so book your daytime swordfish charter now!
