12/3/12 December Sailfishing in Islamorada
Last Friday through Sunday was the 49th Annual Islamorada Sailfish Tournament. A fleet of 25 boats fished the 3 day event. It was a close battle the first two days of the tournament, the Relentless had 13 sailfish releases as well as a private boat named Viva La Vida. The Kalex wasn't far behind with 7 releases either going into the last day. The Relentless hooked up early Sunday morning but unfortunately pulled the hook and was still tied. The Predator caught a couple fish early bringing them to 7 releases too. Over the next couple hours the Predator released 3 more sails and jumped into 3rd place with 10 releases over the event. The Viva la Vida released one more sail after lunch and took the lead with 14 releases. The afternoon finished out a little slow but the Kalex released 2 more sails for a total of 9 fish, the Reel McCoy had 8, the Catch 22 had 5, and Capt. Nick ran a friends boat, the Hillbilly Deluxe and also had 5 fish. Overall the Bud n' Mary's Boats took 2nd and 3rd place, Great Job Relentless on your 13 fish and Predator on your 10 fish! Today the Redfish did a 1/2 day December Fishing trip on the reef and had a good catch of yellowtail snapper. The Bn'M went out on a full day Florida Keys Fishing Charter and caught and released 2 sailfish this morning and then did a little bottom fishing in the afternoon. We caught a couple mutton snapper to 7 lbs, a handful of yellowtail snapper, and a couple big cero mackerel to 8 lbs. Book your Winter time Fishing trip soon!
