5/13/12 Islamorada Offshore Fishing Report
The wind picked up the last couple of days here but that didn't stop the fish from biting while Deep Sea Fishing in Islamorada. Some boats have been staying on the reef and there's been king mackerel, yellowtail snapper, crevalle jacks, permit, sailfish and grouper. Capt. Marc on the All Lit Up today was out this morning and brought back a pair of nice black groupers including this 20 lber. A few days ago the Reel McCoy had a phenomenal day of sailfishing where they released 12 sailfish! The Catch 22 released 4 sailfish today as well. There's been a few others released here and there, but those were the best numbers. Capt. Jake ran the Cloud Nine two days ago and in the afternoon released an est. 250lb blue marlin with 6 ladies out for their first Islamorada Offshore Fishing Trip! The dolphin fishing has also been decent. It's not a free for all yet, the fish are definitely in certain areas, and if/when you find them there's been nice catches brought back. Most of the fish have been in the 3 to 8 lb range, but there's been a handful of big bulls up to 35 lbs the last couple of days on the dock. We're expecting the dolphin fishing to get better and better throughout the summer.
