7-10-12 Offshore fishing in Islamorada
Well it's been a little rainy here the last few days while Fishing in Islamorada, but it didn't stop the boats from getting out and catching plenty of fish. There's been quite a few dolphin (mahi) around, including tons of small under size schoolies, but if your patient there's still been plenty of keepers including some nice slammers up to 25 lbs. The daytime swordfishing charters have also been producing bites every trip and fish to the boat on most trips. Yesterday aboard the BNM we got to tag and release a 40 lb broadbill swordfish, and the day before we released a 30 lber and kept an 87 lber for dinner. The boats on the reef have also been catching plenty of yellowtail snapper and the occasional grouper. There's also been a few tilefish and grouper out in the deep water (400-600') too. I saw some "football" blackfin tunas hanging up lately too. We also caught and released a 50 lb oceanic white tip shark which is unusual for this area.
