9/12/12 Islamorada Sportfishing Report

The big crowds of people have disappeared but September Fishing in Islamorada has been great! Today the winds picked up and the seas were choppy, but it didn't stop the Catch 22 and BnM from getting out and catching some fish. The Catch 22 stayed out the entire day and caught a handful of dolphin (mahi) , a blackfin tuna, as well as a mixture of mangrove and yellowtail snapper. The BnM fished for a couple hours before wrapping it up but managed to catch their limit of mangrove snapper and a couple yellowtails, plenty of meat for a couple fresh fish dinners for the vacationers! Yesterday the Predator had lots of action on small mahi (all undersize) unfortunately, but then caught and released a sailfish and missed a couple of other ones. The BnM had locals Patty and Tracy each catch their first broadbill swordfish yesterday, which was a donated trip to help raise money for local "Trapper John", but unfortunately he passed before the benefit, but the girls still caught a couple of swordfish in remembrance of him. The day before on the BnM we had George and Alex down from Miami for some Florida Keys Fishing and we caught our limit of blueline tilefish to 11 lbs, a snowy grouper, a couple of mutton snapper, and a king mackerel. Swordfishing showed be good the next couple of months so if you ever wanted to chase an incredible fish book your Daytime swordfishing Trip this Fall!
