9-18-12 Fishing in Islamorada in September

Here's the latest fishing report from the boats deep sea fishing in September in Islamorada. Yesterday the Redfish stayed on the edge of the reef and put together a great catch of bottom fish. They had 50 yellowtail snapper, as well as a few mangrove snapper, 2 groupers, a couple porgies, and a mackerel. Today the Relentless went offshore fishing and did really well on the "football" blackfin tuna, up to about 8 lbs, as well as a handful of mahi. On the way home they stopped on the reef and caught about a dozen yellowtail snapper. The Kalex had a very unusual catch today. They had already caught a few nice sized mutton snapper and some blackfin tuna, when they decided they'd try to catch something big. So a shark was the next target, but while in 250' of water they didn't hook a shark. They hooked a 250 lb BLUE MARLIN! What a nice surprise!! It was a 2 hour fight but they got a few pics of the fish and was nice to see a billfish catch and release today out of the marina. The Gon Fishin V fished a few days ago and caught a handful of mahi, but the big numbers haven't been around the past week, but the best surprise was a 28 lb yellowedge grouper in 600' of water!
