1-5-13 Offshore Islamorada Fishing Report
The boats have been steady at it since the New Year offshore fishing in Islamorada. The Reef is where the action has been and it's been quite the variety. Today the Catch 22 had an unbelievable day of fishing, they caught and released 5 sailfish, caught 4 keeper cobia to 40 lbs and then had 15 yellowtail snapper. Both the Relentless and Fearless each released 2 sailfish and the Finnster released 1 and had a nice blackfin tuna around 15 lbs. The Bn'M fished 1/2 day trips and the first trip we caught our limit of yellowtail snapper, 20, as well as 3 kingfish to 15 lbs. In the afternoon we caught some more yellowtail snapper for dinner and then had some fun with a couple barracuda. The Kalex had a limit of a dozen kingfish, including 1 nice one around 20 lbs , as well as 20 yellowtail snapper. Yesterday while Islamorada Reef Fishing the Kalex had 4 cobias to 35 lbs as well as 30 yellowtail snapper. The Bn'M had 3 amberjacks to 48 lbs as well as a sailfish release. The Redfish had a super catch with a limit of king mackerel up to 27 lbs, half a dozen mangrove snapper, and then a 30 lb wahoo to top it off! The Relentless released 2 sailfish and the Catch 22 released 3 sailfish. The Predator fished 1/2 day trips and in the morning caught a bucket full of yellowtail and in the afternoon caught a nice wahoo at 33 lbs as well as a 12 lb mutton snapper. The Fearless caught a pair of nice blackfin tuna around 15 lbs each and the Reel McCoy released 1 of 3 sailfish in the morning as well. The day before that the Gon Fishin V had a handful of nice kingfish to 25 lbs as well as a wahoo in the 30 lb class.
