2-12-13 Islamorada Offshore Fishing in February

The wind started to lay down some today, but the past few days were definitely on the choppy side while Islamorada Fishing. The boats have been doing a little bit of everything from anchoring down for bottom fishing, slow trolling live bait, as well as kite fishing with live bait. Yesterday the Relentless had plenty of action with king mackerel and yellowtail snapper. The Bn'M and Predator fished in the 32nd annual Islamorada Bartenders Sailfish Open, which is a fun tournament where the local bars/restaurants go out for a day of Sailfishing in Islamorada. Both boats had 2 sailfish, but the Bn'M released their Islamorada sailfish first so they finished in 1st place and the Predator finished in 2nd place. The Bn'M also had a 34.6 lb kingfish which was a nice suprise/ Over the weekend the Gon Fishin V had some "smoker" kingfish (20 + lbs), including a couple pushing 40 lbs! The Fearless fished on Sunday and released a sailfish early in the morning and then moved in to the patch reefs for a little more action. On Saturday Morning the winds were calm for the first few hours and both the Kalex and Cloud Nine hit nice schools of cobia up shallow inside the reef, but then the wind picked up and the water got dusty so it was time for some bottom fishing for yellowtail. February Fishing in the Florida Keys provides a little bit of everything, but the weather really plays a role into what will bite.
