3/20/13 Spring time backcountry fishing islamorada
Well spring is officially here and today you could feel it in the backcountry fishing islamorada. Capt. Rick Stanczyk and Capt. Bill Bassett had part of the CDW corporate group down, whom also fished offshore on the Catch 22, Kalex, and had a private charter on the party fishing boat Miss Islamorada. They also booked every room at Bud n Marys and had lunch catered by Kev's Cafe, for a perfect paradise fishing retreat and unique corporate event unlike any other - keep Bud n' Mary's for your next big event! The florida keys tarpon fishing has been getting more consistent, today we stopped and caught a few mullet on the way to the backcountry. We caught lots of trout, ladyfish, jacks, and Capt. Bill got small permit as well. We saw tarpon rolling nearby, so we set up in the channel. Capt. Rick's anglers hooked and landed a nice 80 lb tarpon, unfortunately no picture we broke him off boatside but got the technical release. Also caught a small blacktip shark. Later in the day we went to the gulf and caught loads of tripletail, and a handful of nice keeper size ones. Capt. Mike Bassett reported good spanish mackerel fishing, good tripletail action, and got a nice snook on the way back home too. Capt. Perry Scuderi had a fun day with trout, ladyfish, jacks, pompano, and some nice size blacktip sharks. The spring florida keys tarpon migration has begun so now is the time to start booking your evening tarpon fishing charters in islamorada!
