12/29/10 - Still a little chilly, but fishable and fun!

Capt. Jim Willcox today catching over 150 redfish in some deeper channels way back in the everglades today, despite being record lows just a a couple nights ago!  He said trout fishing was not happening yet the couple spots he tried.  Capt. Rick Stanczyk, Capt. Ken Cohan, and Capt. Ed Cale had good fishing on the patch reefs, lots of porgies, snappers, few nice groupers and muttons, hogfish, and some nice cero mackerels!  Ken also caught a few pompanos, and Rick had a big bluefish!  Capt. Mike Bassett reported catching a couple smaller tarpon in one of the local Islamorada canals, all huddle up from the cold weather!  Capt. Nick Stanczyk aboard the BnM had 5 sailfish today!  Capt. Alex Adler aboard the Kalex had some nice king mackerels, and smaller cero's, as well as some bottom fish and a nice cuda caught by a young angler!  Looks like the weather will just be getting nicer and nice as we move in to the weekend, and hopefully hold up for next week!

12/21/10 - Nice reds and trout in the everglades

On tuesday super low tides piled the reds up in the Cape Sable area for some serious everglades fishing.  Father & son Doug & Ryan Singleton from Michigan caught over 30 reds in the 16 inch range, two 27 inchers , & too many trout to count. All of the fish were released!  All in all a great day and a dream Florida Fishing Vacation for father and son!  Capt. Jim Willcox

Trout biting again!  12/18/10

Well the waters in the Florida Keys Fishing bay have slowly warmed up over the weekend.  Capt. Jim Willcox fished a half day yesterday morning before the rain got to us and caught over 100 trout!  John & Sean, the father son team from California, had a wonderful time!  Good to see the trout bite turning on fishing Islamorada again. Redfish in the back 12/17

Capt. Rick Stanczyk fished a full day in the florida keys backcountry today, 12/17/10.  We caught a bunch of redfish, probably 40 or so, 2 to 6 lbs.  A handful of black drum up to 8 lbs or so.  Mostly in the deeper channels back around east cape.  With the water as cold as it was, this was probably the best bet back there to fish islamorada , we did try to fish a little further in the gulf but still wasn't warm enough to produce much out there.
