12/1/11 Fishing in the Everglades

Capt. Rick Stanczyk took his father, Capt. Richard Stanczyk Sr. and friend Ron Modra out for a day of december fishing in islamorada.  We had a cold front come through the other night and it was a chilly ride in the 60s this morning, very cold going fast across the bay!  We ran back around the cape area west of flamingo and hit our first spot.  We had plenty of nice shrimp, some pinfish, and a few pilchards.  First spot produced several nice redfish about 10 in all, they were eating shrimp on jigs and caught a few on pilchards.  Tide was still going ou.  Also caught 2 snook out of here, one real nice one for Ron!  After the bite slowed we ran further back through east cape canal and lake inghram and on up to cape sable area.  Very beautiful day, little rough once you got on the other side so we scooted along the beach.  Next few stops produced several big redfish some over the slot, and plenty in the slot as well.  Every spot we hit held a few, until our last one which we probably caught over 2 dozen nice ones out of, and another snook.  All in all think our tally was around 50 reds!!  We also caught some nice sheepshead as well, along with a few ladyfish and jacks and snappers.  Spectacular day for our florida keys fishing charter and way to start out the month of December!  Stay tune for more Islamorada fishing reports december.  On the offshore side Capt. Nick Stanczyk on the BNM had 6 sailfish, and Kalex had 7, the boys are gearing up for the big tournament this weekend hopefully they do as well then!

Day after xmas, 12/26/10, offshore aboard BnM!

Capt. Nick Stanczyk aboard the BnM was able to get a half day in Islamorada Fishing before the real windy weather came towards Islamorada, Florida Keys on 12/26/10.  They caught a couple real nice afican pompanos off a popular dive wreck nearby up to 30 lbs!  Bottom fishing was good producing a 5 lb mutton, and a 10 lb black grouper.  They wanted some action and jumping so they decided to go Florida Keys Fishing for sailfish, here's a picture of a nice sail they caught!  They ended up catching 3 sails for the day, releasing all unharmed!  They also caught 3 kingfish on this Florida Fishing Charter.

Day before xmas 12/24/10

Capt. Perry Scuderi reported fishing xmas eve back around the flamingo area of the everglades.  Winds were 15-20mph, northeast, though nice blue sky but a little bumpy.  Fishing shrimp on liht tackle, they caught redfish, black drum, sheepshead, and trout.  Saw lots of wild bird life, and porpoises!

12/25/10 - Christmas morning on the patches

Merry Christmas everyone!  Capt. Rick Stanczyk fished a half day xmas morning with Chris and his father Ed from just up the road here in Florida.  Fishing Islamorada was good out on the shallow patch reefs.  Dirtier water on the inside led them to some nice mangrove snappers, a few porgies, and half a dozen red groupers, one which was legal size but we let everything go.  The fish have to celebrate christmas too right?  The deeper patches were not as productive as the water was pretty clear, mostly grunts on the bottom.  Anyways, not a bad way to spend your xmas morning on a Florida Fishing Charter!

12/21/10 - Nice reds and trout in the everglades

On tuesday super low tides piled the reds up in the Cape Sable area for some serious everglades fishing.  Father & son Doug & Ryan Singleton from Michigan caught over 30 reds in the 16 inch range, two 27 inchers , & too many trout to count. All of the fish were released!  All in all a great day and a dream Florida Fishing Vacation for father and son!  Capt. Jim Willcox
