Great Offshore Fishing!

There has been tons of dolphin the past week, including lots of slammers (dolphin over 20 lbs). We've also been catching big blackfin tunas, a few sailfish, snappers, and we swordfished one day and caught 3 between 106 and 186 lbs.

Tuna and Dolphin the past week

We had a few real calm days about a week ago and then the wind started blowing at the beginning of this week but the fishing has just been getting better each day. We've had blackfin tuna up to 31 lbs, dolphin to 25 lbs, and a few snappers still on the reef. The wind the past few days has pushed a lot of dolphin close to shore with quite a few small and large fish.

Mixed bag of Fish

We fished two days out in the Gulf of Mexico catching 30 sharks, including blacktips, spinners, hammerheads, and lemons, as well as a 37 lb kingfish and some spanish mackerel and sea trout. We swordfished on Sunday and caught 2 swords on our first 2 drops, 55 and 85 lbs. Today we went in search of a big amberjack for Blake Sorensen and he got more than he asked for, catching 4 and one big fatty that weighed 80 lbs! There also has been a few sailfish around on the reef.

4-20-10 Swordfish! 4-22-10 Reef Trip

Our good friends Bill Brown and Lenny Shortz are down for the week and we made it out swordfishing the other day. The weather was great and both Bill and Lenny got to pull on big swordfish. Lennys was boatside a few times before diving deep where we pulled the hook, and Bill's made it home with us. The fish made 5 jumps, a couple right next to the boat and was one of the most exciting Broadbill I have ever seen. She weighed in at 221 lbs!

We took a reef trip today, 4-22, and caught 25 nice yellowtail snapper, 3 mutton snapper, a few king mackerel, 3 amberjack, and let go a couple of groupers.
