what a day! Hugh Dennis of North Carolina and Islamorada with me. Just after throwing the net and catching pilchards for bait we watched a big hammerhead shark chase down a 3' barracuda and catch it right at the BudnMary's channel. What a sight. The Spanish mackerel are here in force. We stopped for an hour near 9mile bank and every cast was a fat mackerel with a few bluefish,trout,lanesnapper and mangrove snapper. It was very calm and Hugh wanted to try for cobia and we got lucky and caught 2. Later we fished the flats for snook and reds with success and a large goliath grouper swam right up to the boat in 3' of murky water begging for a meal. We gave him a jack and had a release and some great memories.
