2 Nice Swords for the Australians!

We had "Sparra" and Tara from Cairns, Australia out on the BNM on June 29th and 30th. "Sparra" runs the famous Square Bear for the giant black marlin, and wanted his girlfriend/mate to catch a Broadbill Swordfish. The Swordfish Charter began early in the morning. We headed out around 30 miles and on the first drop hooked up within minutes. Unfortuntely the hook pulled and it was very quite the next few hours. We caught a handful of Mahi and then finally around 3 p.m. we had another swordfish bite. Tara got in the chair with the fish and went to work. After about 30 minutes I saw a big splash way back, and knew we had a decent fish on. We got the fish about 50 feet away and she made a spectactular jump, clear out of the water. I knew the fish was well over 200 lbs. After a 90 minutes battle we sank the gaffs into a fat 231 lb Swordfish! Great swordfish, especially for her first. We did the same thing again the next day. We missed our first swordfish bite, and then connected around 4 p.m. We had another beatiful sword on, and after an hour long battle, Tara had her second ever sword in the boat. A 166lber! "Sparra" said he'll get his next time, but I'm not sure Tara will share the chair in the future either... Get on down here for some Florida Keys Fishing!
