10-13-12 Islamorada Fishing Offshore and Reef Report

The wind picked up the last few days, especially today, but it hasn't stopped the Islamorada Offshore Fishing Boats  from doing what they do best, catch FISH! The BNM fished the reef a few days ago and had a handful of medium size blackfin tuna, a handful of mahi to 15 lbs, a few big yellowtail snapper, a couple vermillion snapper, and a few jacks. The Kalex ventured out for some Deep Sea Fishing and had a great catch of blackfin tunas, a few mahi, and a wahoo as well.  The Sugaree stayed on the reef the past two days for 1/2 day fishing trips. Yesterday they caught a few blackfin tuna and really focused on sailfish. Right before they came in they raised a double header but unfortunately broke the line on one and missed the other. Today they anchored down to bottom fish and had tons of action. They caught a box full of yellowtail snapper, mangrove snapper, and a nice black grouper to top it off before coming in for lunch. The Relentless fished offshore yesterday and had a great catch of blackfin tuna, a few real nices up to 25 lbs, as well as some mahi. Today they caught some blackfin tunas in the morning and then looked for a sailfish in the afternoon but didn't come across any. The sailfish are starting to move in slowly but they definitely haven't settled in yet. As the days pass we should see more release flags flying each day.
