March 16 & 17 Florida Keys Deep Sea Fishing Report

The good fishing has continued the last couple days here on the Florida Keys Deep Sea Fishing boats. Yesterday on the 16th aboard the BNM we caught our limit of yellowtail snapper to 2 lbs, a pair of ambjeracks to 35 lbs, a couple barracuda, and a pair of cobias at 38 and 47 lbs. The Catch 22 went Offshore Fishing and it paid off. They caught 30 dolphin (mahi) to 12 lbs, 3 wahoo to 20 lbs, and a 20 lb cobia on their way home. The That's Right also had a nice catch of dolphin including a couple of bigger fish right close to 20 lbs. A few of the other boats had a handful of dolphin, and the rest of the boats that stayed on the reef for the most part had really nice catches of yellowtail snapper. Today on March 17th aboard the BNM we caught about 25 dolphin, and kept a dozen and a half to 14 lbs. The Gon Fishin V and Kalex also had very similar catches, keeping about the same amount and releasing quite a few short fish as well. The Fearless caught a bucket full of "feather" tunas (aka footballs - 2 to 5 lbs) and then found about a dozen keeper dolphin on their way home. The Strictly Business stayed on the edge of the reef and had a limit of nice sized Yellowtail snapper as well as a few king mackerel to 20 lbs. The Could Nine also had a limit of snapper and reported catching a couple of dolphin. March is a month where there's usually a little bit of everything as we transition from our winter time reef fish, towards our summer time gulf stream migrators. Hopefully the dolphin fishing continues to be steady and the bigger blackfin tuna should show up on the humps any day.
