March 18/19 Islamorada Fishing Report
The Florida Keys Family Fishing Charters have been in full swing with kids off from school on Spring Break. Yesterday the weather was very nice, with winds only 10-12 knots , and the reef fishing was great. Aboard the BNM we caught 20 nice size yellowtail snapper from 1 - 3 lbs, a 12 lb king and then headed offshore for an hour. We hooked 5 amberjacks and landed two, including this 48 lber. The Relentless was out on a full day charter and also had a nice catch of yellowtail snapper and then headed offshore in search of dolphin. After an hour they hit their first school and caught about a dozen fish before heading back home. Today the wind was a little higher, in the 15 - 20 knot range, and the seas were a little rougher. The fishing was still decent though for the boats that stayed out the whole day. We had a morning and and an afternoon trip on the BNM and caught about 25 yellowtail snapper each trip, as well as a couple barracudas. The Kalex had a full day Islamorada Fishing Trip and had a bucket full of yellowtail snapper and a few king mackerel. The Sugaree had a similar catch but one of their kings was a healthy 34 lber!
