6-11-12 Offshore Islamorada Fishing Report
The wind picked up here a little bit the last couple of days while fishing in Islamorada, but it hasn't stopped any boats from getting out. The dolphin (mahi) bite has been really good the last few days. All of the boats have been catching plenty of fish for dinner and some have been limiting out. Most of the fish have been "schoolies" (3-5 lbs), but there's been a few gaffers (5-15 lbs) mixed in as well. Here's a picture from the Gon Fishin V yesterday with a pair of 30 lb blackfin tunas yesterday. If you want to book a daytime swordfishing charter this could be the summer too. The Catch 22 caught and released two broadbills today, the BNM released 1 on two of the last trips and kept one on another trip for dinner. There has also been some "football" blackfin tuna on the humps if you spend some time there. Picture of the Kalex charter boat rack today with lots of dolphin including a nice bull.
