6-7-12 Islamorada Deep Sea Fishing Report
The weather has been great the last few days! We had winds of 5 - 10 knots with calm seas. Today the dolphin bite picked up for most boats, lots of schoolies (3-5 lbers) and a few gaffers up to 18 lbs were on the dock. It was really nice to see multiple schools of fish throughout the day. On the Reef the yellowtail snapper have been biting good when the current and conditions are right, it was a little tough with the current into the wind but a few boats still managed a bucket full for dinner. There's been quite a few mutton snappers the last few days on the reef and wrecks too. The daytime swordfish bite also turned on the last couple of days. Both the Catch 22 and BNM had 2 fish apiece yesterday, the biggest was a 161 lber which a mako shark bit his tail off, and another was 152 lbs. Today the Catch 22 had 2 more broadbills and the BNM had 1. There was also a decent bite of blackfin tuna on the humps the last few days. The Kalex, Gon Fishin V, and Predator all got in on the action with some fish over 20 lbs. The Relentless released a blue marlin today estimated at 100 lbs, and the Gon Fishin had a sailfish. The Kalex released 2 sails a few days ago as well while live baiting for tuna. The mutton snapper pic is a 13 lber from the Finnster yesterday. Come on down soon for your Islamorada Fishing Trip.
