6-4-12 Islamorada Offshore Fishing Report

It's been great weather here the past few days. The winds have been calm and we haven't had much rain. The dolphin (Mahi) fishing has still been fair. A few boats will hit big schools while other boats will just pick few fish here and there throughout the entire day. The Catch 22 had a great catch today with 20 fish including a nice 35 lb bull. Most of the other boats had a handful or so. In addition to dolphin fishing there's been a few nice blackfin tuna showing up on the humps. Finally! The Predator and Gon Fishin V each caught a few today. The BNM caught a bunch of almaco jacks and a mutton snapper in addition the dolphin. Yesterday Capt. Jake aboard the Cloud Nine came back to the reef after a slow morning of dolphin fishing, and it paid off! They had 3 mutton snappers, including two over 10 lbs and then caught a 40 lb African Pompano! There's also been the occasional wahoo on the troll. We did some Daytime swordfishing  over the weekend but unfortunately the big one got away. We hooked a big fish and Jeff got in the chair with it. After 30 minutes the fish jumped 1000' behind the boat and we knew it was big. Real Big. Within 5 minutes Jeff had the fish swimming within 30' of the boat, but it was foul hooked in the back. The big fish was every bit of 400 lbs!! After a few circles around the boat she headed towards the bottom and we pulled the hook. Come on down for your Islamorada Deep Sea Fishing Trip Today!
