5/30/13 End of May Fishing Report
Well we've had torrential rain the last several days and looks like tomorrow may be more of the same though hopefully will let up a little bit. As we enter june fishing in islamorada we will be getting more into the meat of mahi season offshore. Not many of the big boats have been out the last several days because in addition to rain there has been 20-25 knot winds. A handful of boats did venture out and fishing on the reef was fairly good with a mix of yellowtails and groupers. Relentless did get into some nice mahi a few days ago. The backcountry has been a similar story not many boats heading out, but a few have done some tarpon fishing in the florida keys close to home. Capt. Dave Sisung and Capt. Mike Bassett both had action last night yesterday each landing two fish. Capt. Ken Cohan caught a big fish this morning and came in when it started to pour, and Capt. Bill Bassett was fighting one during heavy rain and stayed out there in it. This isn't fishing for the faint of heart, however. Hopefully tomorrow will be the last of the wet stuff and we can get back to doing what we do - great june fishing florida keys. We are on pretty good tides tonight and the next few days for tarpon fishing plus a load of crabs just came in which have been very hard to come by, so if you want to go give us a call! 305-664-2461.
