slick calm and hot and so is the fishing

Stephen Silver,Matthew Silver and Uncle Alex were out with me Sunday. Matthew is a fishing fanatic and has been fishing since he was 2. We had great conditions. Outgoing tide, dusty water and hungry fish.

Spanish mackerel, cero mackerel, trout, mangrove snappers, ladyfish, small sharks, big lemon sharks were all behind the boat taking baits every cast. By 2 pm we had enough. A limit of big mangs and as a thunderhead was building we headed in a little early to clean fish. Alex caught his largest ever fish a lemon shark of 150lbs. thanks for coming guys.

Richie Silver and Ira Kanarick

Have been fishing with me since I was a deckhand on the Ken-Kay.That charter boat was based at Budnmarys in the early 70's. These guys come down to fish 4 or 5 times of year and what they love is just plain catching fish. And right now is a great time. In 2 days we released a couple hundred fish and kept our limit of mangrove snapper each day for them to have cooked at Lazy Days restaurant and to take some home. We also played with the sharks and snook. The pretty lady in the picture is Susan a great friend of Richie and Ira.

August 13

Kevin Angulkski travelled all the way from Minneapolis to catch a fish as big or bigger than he is. Well Kevin certainly accomplished that. In one day of fishing the cape sable area Kevin released 3 lemon sharks over 200 and up to 275lbs. 4 goliath grouper to 250lb. many blacktip sharks and a nice tarpon.Kevin also wanted to sample some mangrove snapper for dinner and while doing that we chummed up the lemon sharks and played tugowar with them. For more fishing info and a fishing trip with Capt. Backcountry fishing red hot

On August 5,6,9 and 14th I had the pleasure of fishing with Andrew Long and his friends down from Greenville,South Carolina. The fishing was very good. Every trip we spent a couple hours procuring mangrove snappers for dinners and along with the snapper were trout, big ladyfish, jacks, spanish mackerel ect. Every cast was a bite. Then either in the morning or afternoon according to what the tide was doing we fished for tarpon, goliath grouper, sharks and snook. Lots of tarpon releases, largest 90lbs and some small ones in the creeks of cape sable. The goliath grouper fishery is something to experience. Andrew released goliaths up to 250lbs. The lemon sharks are pretty wild this time of year. They really like warm water and get extremely active. Don't dangle your feet in the water.
